The Surat Aboriginal Corporation was incorporated in 2000 pursuant to the Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act 1976. It aims to achieve the following:
1. Building Purchase
To purchase a building to conduct the affairs of the association in a transparent, efficient, resourceful way.
2. Culture & Heritage
To ensure that our culture and heritage is maintained and developed.
3. Housing Health & Social Well-being
To provide comfortable and affordable housing for Aboriginal people in the Township of Surat.
To encourage and give support to the development of community sports and recreation initiatives to accommodate community needs for physical and social development.
To give support to aged cared programs, to ensure that our elders are well cared for and given the respect and care that they rightfully deserve.
To encourage and give support to the development of a child care support service for community to ensure that our children are well cared for.
4. Legal & Youth Issues
To provide legal assistance to our people and address the Youth issues in Surat
5. Employment, Education and Training
To Create and provide where ever possible employment, education and training opportunities for aboriginal people of the township of Surat.
